I went back to Bartlett one more time, this time to shoot the second building, the one furher from the lake. There are people living on the site, and one of them has more or less filled this building with "stuff". At least one each of every tool there is, I think..

After this I had some time, so I drove south. I had sort of intended to go as far as the Randsburg area, where there is a lot of mining activity. I didn't get that far. At the south end of Owens Lake is Olancha, and this one facility is there. It hasn't been used in years, it appears. I poked around for a couple of hours and tried to stay out of the wind. The "Big Pine Distributing" company, and it looks like a rock crushing facility.

This is a cool structure. I think the finished product wound up in this building.

More ..

A pile of used filters. This must have been an incrediby noisy dusty place to work.

This is the Owens Valley Aqueduct, taking water from the Owens Valley to LA. It's fast moving. Here is the LA DWP history, here is another.

A bit further south on 395 is Pearsonville, home to not much. There is a large auto "recycler", a rather mystifying statue of what might be Miss Pearsonville (Nice heels, but I don't think she's the hubcap queen.) and the someone's prototype of the Stealth Car.

A little further on down the road are this abandoned diner and an old set of cabins. I didn't snap any of the cabins since it was quite late, very windy, and I was very tired.

Below is what must have been the restaurant that anchored the set of little stone cabins. Next time I am this far south on 395 I will snap them.
